...And Iraq's Meatgrinder Continues

by Basheert @ 8:30 PM MDT

Over the last several days, the Administration has claimed a reduction in violence in Baghdad as proof that The Petraeus Doctrine appears to be partially successful. In spite of the fact the Iraqis have not provided the 3 brigades by their own timeline, we are being told that there is "improvement". It is unlikely the Iraqis will ever stand "up" so we can stand down, as there is no incentive for them to take this action.

Attached you will find the current tally of casualties in Iraq. I am struck by the fact that as of today, March 15, we have lost 43 soldiers (a daily average of 2.93 of our children) in the current month. If you scroll down to the monthly totals, you will note that since the mid-terms in November, the % daily of our killed troops has increased dramatically.

How this Administration can view these figures (if they bothered to do so) and determine the violence is lessening is a mystery to me.

Since I posted this, less than 10 hours ago, we lost 3 more.

Our casualties happen while we sleep, due to the time difference.

We are now at 46 for this month.
