Gonzales Advised Bush On Probe After Learning He Might Be A Subject

By S-Q @ 9:29 AM MDT

U.S. Attorney General Alberto Gonzales reportedly advised President George W. Bush on a federal inquiry even after learning his own actions might be probed.

Citing government records and interviews, the National Journal reported Thursday that, shortly before he advised Bush in 2006 on whether to shut down a Justice Department investigation into the administration's warrantless domestic eavesdropping program, Gonzales learned that his own conduct would likely be a focus of the inquiry.

Bush shut down the Justice Department investigation in April 2006 by denying investigators security clearances they would have needed to examine the eavesdropping program.

Drip drip drip, this faucet just keeps on leaking.

All those loyalists around the Bush Admin who parked their common sense to feel they were part of history must be shaking and quaking now, as layers are peeled away and investigations are launched.

Serves everyone of them right. Justice will always prevail in the end. Sometimes it's a bit of a winding road but as the cliche says, Right is Might.

All the blogs out there filled with people who really care have, I believe, made the difference. Vigilance is the key. Time to dust off that great phrase from the sixties, "Power to the People." This government forgot the words, for the people, by the people.

Best wishes to Valerie Plame, who has endured a lot. But because she showed so much class and kept silent through the investigation, she is now able to tell her story.
