Valerie Plame, the Spy Who's Ready to Speak for Herself

By S-Q @ 6:02 AM MDT

Years of Silence Will End Today With Capitol Hill Testimony

She has been silent nearly four years. Today, the CIA officer whose unmasking fueled a political uproar and criminal probe that reached into the White House is poised to finally tell her own story -- before Congress.

Valerie Plame's testimony will have all the trappings of a "Garbo speaks" moment on Capitol Hill, with cameras and microphones arrayed to capture the voice of Plame, the glamorous but mute star of a compelling political intrigue. But while she hopes to clear up her status as an agency operative when her name first hit newspapers in July 2003, America's most publicized spy is unlikely to betray any details in open session about her mysterious career.

The reason: Plame remains gagged by the same secrecy rules that governed her 20 years as a CIA employee working overseas and at Langley in classified positions.

People close to Plame say her primary goal in testifying before the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform is to knock down persistent claims that she did not serve undercover. "She is so tired of hearing that," her mother, Diane Plame, said in an interview earlier this week.

Valerie and Joe Wilson did an awe-inspiring thing in my opinion. They had the collective cojones to take on the Bush Administration, not an easy task in that political climate in Washington.
The personal nasty attacks they have endured (as expected) cannot have been easy. Regardless of right or wrong, it is emotionally difficult to go out and put your story up against an Administration that would as easily as not, put a figurative bullet in your backs.
Recently it became obvious that Valerie would have her day, and speak her mind. She will share her story with Congress and it will be news.
The WH has once again failed at their petty partisan games. Dick Cheney will be shown once again as the ruthless, moneygrubbing, monster that he is.
And Valerie will tell her story. It won't change what happened, but maybe it will give her closure to what must be some very troubling feelings for what was done to her.

Good Morning/Afternoon s-q, Basheert, and the Justice Bloggers :)

This is Bush and Cheney's Watergate.

Playing with Intelligence to go to War has got to be an outrage to people who are putting their kids on the line in the Sands of Iraq.

When you mix this in with the Story I posted about AIPAC Israeli Lobby Spy rings in America and then you add Jack Abramoff, and mix in the PNAC doctrine by Wolfowitz and Perle, you start getting the whole picture of how the WH has Turned America into their own Empire complete with Little Napoleons running around getting drunk and then firing their toy Generals.

Here's some excerpts from that Israel Lobbies Spy Article at WAPO.

quote: Defense lawyers and media organizations are objecting to what they say is a government effort to bar the public from the upcoming trial of two pro-Israel lobbyists charged with violating U.S. espionage laws.

quote: Rosen and Weissman are former employees of the American Israel Public Affairs Committee, or AIPAC. They are charged in what the government calls a conspiracy to obtain classified information and to pass it to members of the media and the Israeli government. Their trial is scheduled for June 4.

The case has First Amendment implications, with some lawyers saying it criminalizes the type of information exchange that is common among journalists, lobbyists and others in Washington. Prosecutors argue that disclosing sensitive defense information could harm national security.

That's pretty serious violation of the Constitution I'm thinking...

And I'm also thinking this will lead to a NEW investigation of the 9/11 Event as well.

Those folks in Congress, the Senate and the Judiciary are gonna be Busy busy busy cause they've gotta turn up the rugs to see the little Financiers behind the curtain pulling the strings...

Hee hee hee!
