Crooks & Liars
During his January 18, 2006 testimony before the Senate Judiciary Committee, Alberto Gonzales said this:
GONZALES: I would never, ever make a change in a United States attorney position for political reasons or if it would, in any way, jeopardize an ongoing serious investigation. I just would not do it.

I expect at any time we will hear that Gonzo has resigned!
But hurry up would ya, Gone-zo? LOLMAO
The Administration is as usual, engaged in parsing and hair splitting (oh Clinton fired all 93 lawyers (all Repubs) when he took office, etc etc etc).
When the Administration attempts to corrupt the Justice System, with the complicity of the Justice Department and the Attorney General, we the People of the United States are in more trouble that you could ever know.
Gonzo will be gone - no question. However the situation still remains - we obviously have 80+ politically appointed attorneys who are simply doing the bidding of the WH and investigating only Democrats.
What this says to me is that only 7 or 8 Federal Attorneys had ethics and honesty - where do the rest of these Attorney's fall? We need to think about what this says in reality - especially since the ones who were fired were all Republicans.
Hi Basheert:
Looks as though this administration is in deep doo-doo!!
From Raw Story:
"The Bush Administration's firing of eight U.S. attorneys may have broken various laws, according to a New York Times op-ed by lawyer and editorial page assistant editor Adam Cohen.
"It is true, as the White House keeps saying, that United States attorneys serve 'at the pleasure of the president,' which means he can dismiss them whenever he wants," writes Cohen. "But if the attorneys were fired to interfere with a valid prosecution, or to punish them for not misusing their offices, that may well have been illegal."
I would hope so, but in all honesty, in the last 6 years, we haven't seen much accountabiliy, responsibility taken, or anyone doing anything except sweeping stuff like this under the rug in the Oval Office.
